In this series, we have been exploring potential wedding venues in Jamaica other than the typical beach nuptials. As explained in Part 1 of this series, because of its rich history and landscape, Jamaica has so much more to offer than its seashore.
Part of Jamaica’s history is rooted in sugarcane. There was a time in our history where sugar was king, and large sugar estates with palace style structures on top of hills overlooking canefields and the sea, coupled with good views of the mountains and valleys, was a regular feature across the island. These “castles” therefore offered a picturesque view of all the best Jamaica’s landscape has to offer, from riversides to mountains, from canefields to the sea. (If you’re Jamaican, I know you just sang that last line!)
Remnants of that history still exist in the following potential wedding locations.
Rose Hall Great House, Montego Bay
Best known for its haunting past, and story of its former lady of the house, Annie Palmer, who is reputed to still roam the halls, this picturesque venue is far from a nightmare, in fact, it is a bride’s dream come true!

Bellefield Greathouse, Montego Bay
One of Jamaica’s oldest sugar plantations which has been pristinely preserved, this venue offers many options, for creating the look and feel of magic for your wedding day, such as the plantation architecture of the greathouse, the sugar mill, and the sprawling hillside plantation,

While the following venue is not steeped in the same history as the previous options, it surely draws its inspiration and architectural style from the same era.
Patoo Castle, Negril
This property, located on a cliff overlooking the Caribbean Sea, gives you both the look and feel of a palatial history, while still offering the crystal blue views of the Caribbean Sea that visitors of Jamaica love!
